Technology is not the enemy, ignorance is.

In I.T. today we watched a video by a teacher whoses main point was that we have no need to fear technology, we need to fear about the uneducated technology users who are going out into the world that uses it.

The responsibilities we have as users of this technology are simple. To know how to use the technology both safely and productively. We need to know how to use different aspects of technology and have the knowledge to help ensure others do the same.

I think that the most important issues when using technology are that you know how to use it, you can safely use it and you are able to teach others it because if you can teach others than you definately know the technology.

Cyber Bullying.

Now that you have explored cyber bullying a little more have your ideas changed?
What ideas?? I always knew that cyber bullying occured and i know how harsh it can be but i also know what to do in those situations and how not to get into those situations.

What have you learned that you didn’t already know about this issue?
It occurs to girls at a younger age than boys and with boys being cyber bullied its mostly through games online.

Does it make you more concerned or more empowered to be able to deal with this issue?

More empowered than concerned, cyber bullying can be stopped which means there is a solution so there is no need to be really concerned. I think its made out to be worse than it really is as the internet has ways to block and delete people you don’t want to talk to and its just that matter of pressing those keys and not retaliating.

Did you know??

In class we watched the Did you Know clip, we then had to reflect on what it meant to us. The movie meant alot. The world is changing around us every second and we cant even see most of these changes. Technology has dramatically increased in size and avaliability. This means that it will continue to expand over the years changing how future generations think and live. New technology quickly becomes old, trying to keep up with it would not only be exhausting and expensive it would be a waste of time.

People depend on technology, i know i depend on my phone and mp3, they go nearly everywhere i go and if i don’t have them i find myself thinking about how much i want them. Technology is everywhere, will technology expand until we do everything through computers????

How i think differently

  1. What is this article about? the article is about how people who have grown up with and around technology think differently compared to those of previous generations and how its like superfical thinking because we get information about things but we dont retain it.
  2. Who is it about and who has written it?  the new generation that has grown up with technology and it was written by Catherine O’Brien
  3. How did you respond to the article on the website? I didn’t respond. It was just an article soemone had written. I think technology has its uses but i still read when i can and i can retain infomation. Also i dont think i am one of those people who learns when they have to, i learn as much as i can just in case i need that imfomation one day.
  4. Are you a digital native or a digital immigrant?  I am neither. I have aspects from both. Anyway people could define these terms in different ways. In the way they are conveyed i would say i am more a native than an immigrant.
  5. List at least 5 ways that you could demonstrate that you are a digtal native.
i like getting as much information on what i am learning or if i am doing a project, i multi task very well and efficently, i always look at pictures before i read texts in articles and i like hyperlinked multimedia information ,I dont particularly like networking with others as i work better by myself but i can work with people.
